Downtown Chess was created in 2019 and was originally a group on meetup.com. Throughout the years it allowed people to meet and play chess together in a casual and friendly atmosphere. Due to the success of the group, we decided to create an actual club with the goal of doing more events.

What started as a small meetup.com group quickly grew into a community with 3000+ members. We are now a registered non-profit organization and official CFC (Canada Chess Federation) club.
